Intellectual Property Rights Photo Contest:
“Creativity: The Next Generation”
The U.S. Embassy Hanoi and the Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City invite you to take part in the U.S. Mission to Vietnam’s Intellectual Property Rights photo contest, “Creativity: The Next Generation.” We invite you to submit up to two original photos that are as creative as possible using the myriad options available (digital cameras, mobile phones, etc.) to win great prizes! The photos can represent any images you find interesting or you feel evoke creativity. Winning submissions will be determined by a review panel.
The Grand Prize Winner will receive an Apple iPod Touch; the First Runner-up will win an Apple iPod Shuffle; and the Second Runner-up will get a Flickr Pro account membership.
Official Contest Rules and Criteria
THERE IS NO FEE TO ENTER THIS CONTEST.
Contestants must be between 15 and 30 years old, hold a Vietnam identification card, and live in Vietnam.
Employees of the U.S. Mission in Vietnam and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
Submissions must be original photos created by the submitter. Photos should be formatted as JPG images, 72dpi resolution, with a file size of over 1MB but not larger than 4MB
Participants may submit one or a maximum of two photos.
To qualify, competitors must provide accurate and complete information.
By entering this competition, entrants declare that they have read and accept the following rules.
The Contest begins at 4:00 PM Hanoi time on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, and ends at 5:00 PM on Monday, April 15, 2013.
This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. You are providing your information to the U.S. Embassy Hanoi American Center and not to Facebook. The information and images you provide will be used solely for the purposes of the American Center Photo Contest “Creativity: The Next Generation”and non-commercial public diplomacy efforts.
Judging and Criteria
Before being published on the U.S. Embassy’s Facebook page, all photos will be screened by a review panel to ensure compliance with these Official Rules and Facebook’s Conditions of Service. Photos that comply with these Official Rules will be included in a contest album on the U.S. Embassy’s Facebook page.
Photos will be reviewed against the following criteria:
Relevance to the theme “Creativity: The Next Generation.”
Creativity - originality of concept
Technical elements - photos will be judged on the composition, balance, lighting, focus, and subject matter
The Contest review panel will determine the winners. Winners will be announced publicly on the U.S. Embassy Facebook page and the U.S. Embassy Hanoi and Consulate General HCMC websites.
Before naming the winners, the review panel reserves the right to verify that the the potential winner is in full compliance with these Official Rules. If the American Center cannot contact a potential finalist or winner, then the finalist will be disqualified and the committee will deem the next highest scoring photo the new finalist.
The winning photos will be framed and hung in the American Center and winners will receive prizes and certificates. The Grand Prize Winner will receive an Apple iPod Touch, the First Runner-up will win an Apple iPod Shuffle, and the Second Runner-up will get a Flickr Pro account membership.
All contest participants will be considered for free tickets to the “Art is Work” ASEAN music festival held at the American Club in Hanoi on May 11, 2013.
How to Participate
Choose no more than two original digital photos and submit them to the competition according to the following instructions.
The following information will be required for submission:

Vietnamese ID #
Location of photo
Date (approximate) photo was taken
Photo title and brief description
*After uploading the photo to the Facebook site, no amendments or changes can be made.
Requirements, Restrictions and Regulations
Photo entries must not contain any obscene or sexually explicit material, violence, things that may incite violence or the use of drugs or alcohol, or sales promotions.
Entries also must not have images or content that may be considered abusive, derogatory, or disrespectful to the competition, groups, individuals or institutions.
Photos submitted by the participant must be originals and should not be subject to copyright and must not violate or harm others’ intellectual property rights, privacy and publicity of third parties (except as expressly permitted below).
Entries must comply with Vietnamese law. The contents of the photos submitted must be suitable for viewing by a global audience.
By submitting a photo to the competition, the competitor declares that he has obtained written consent from the individuals in the photo and also claims to be in possession of reliable documentation to that effect upon request (in case of presence of children a release by a parent or guardian may be requested).
The competitor declares that he has obtained the necessary rights, licenses, permits and permissions to use the photographic material. Failure to obtain such rights, consent, licenses and authorizations may result in disqualification from the competition. The Embassy makes no allowances for fair use of copyrighted material. In case of any problem or difference of opinion with regard to compliance, interpretation or application of such requirements or other provisions contained in these Regulations, the Embassy reserves the exclusive right to resolve such matters at its discretion.
Once a submission has been posted on the American Center Facebook page, the competitor’s name and city of origin may be disclosed publicly at the discretion of the Embassy.
The competitor is responsible for the photos and the material it contains and for the consequences of publication on Facebook.
In case of sabotage or tampering, the Embassy reserves the sole right to disqualify such persons.
The Embassy reserves the right to cancel, modify or terminate the Contest.
By entering the competition you agree to not hold responsible any staff of the U.S. Government regarding claims for damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, debt, and expenses (including legal limits) resulting from: (i) the use of and access to Facebook and Web sites of contests on the contest, (ii) violation of these Official Rules or the terms and conditions of service for Facebook, (iii) violation of any rights of third parties, violations of copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other proprietary rights in the contest, or any damage caused to third parties from the picture published.
The Embassy will not be held responsible for any disputes between competitors.
Contestants retain ownership of their photos. However, by posting a photo in the contest, entrants grant the Embassy a license to use the image, non-exclusively and royalty-free to reproduce, distribute, and/or view the photos in any format and through any media channels for an indefinite period in connection with the activities and operations of the competition and for the purposes of public diplomacy efforts.
The Embassy and the review panel reserve the right to reject photos that do not comply with the Contest rules or applicable laws.
The Embassy reserves the right at all times to check the validity of the competitors and disqualify those found not complying with these Regulations or the Terms and Conditions dictated by Facebook, or anyone accused of acting in bad faith, in an unsportsmanlike manner, or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. The Embassy also reserves the right to request additional documentation to verify eligibility and compliance with these Regulations.
Ngày 20/3, Trung tâm Hoa Kỳ thuộc Tổng lãnh sự quán Hoa Kỳ tại Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh phát động cuộc thi thiết kế logo nằm trong một chiến dịch“Hãy bảo vệ loài bò biển”dành cho tất cả công dân Việt Nam.
Các tác phẩm số hóa phải có chất lượng cao, ảnh JPG với dung lượng tối thiểu là 300 DPI. Khuyến khích thiết kế logo theo dạng vector. Người dự thi có thể nộp các tác phẩm vẽ về bò biển hay vẽ hai mẹ con bò biển.
Tuy nhiên, các họa sỹ cũng có thể nộp các thiết kế là những câu chuyện về loài bò biển. Logo có thể bao gồm cả dòng chữ “Hãy bảo vệ loài bò biển” bằng tiếng Anh hoặc tiếng Việt, hoặc cả hai thứ tiếng.
Các thiết kế dự thi phải được nộp trước 17 giờ, ngày 12/4/2013 qua mạng ở dạng số hóa http://goo.gl/dnUhw hoặc qua đường bưu điện tới địa chỉ: Trung tâm Hoa Kỳ, Cuộc thi thiết kế logo “Hãy bảo vệ loài bò biển” Tổng Lãnh sự quán Hoa Kỳ tại Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, 4 Lê Duẩn, quận 1, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh.
Bò biển loài động vật biển có vú đang bị đe dọa, sinh sống rải rác tại vùng bờ biển từ Australia đến Ấn Độ. Loài động vật này có nguy cơ bị tuyệt chủng tại khu vực biển Việt Nam. Hiện chỉ còn một số lượng ít bò biển ở ngoài khơi đảo Phú Quốc và Côn Đảo./.
